Ben Goggins, of Savannah Morning News, took a ride with Jim Ozier, of the DNR, as he conducted a survey of eagle nests in the area. They were able to see several eagles, eaglets and a few empty nests during their trip. One of the nests they found—with eagles in tact—was located at Savannah/Hilton Head International. The two chicks are settled in a nest high atop a cypress tree in a pond at the end of Gulfstream Road. They have been there since December and are visible to anyone who visits the airport. Be sure to keep an “eagle” eye out for them the next time you fly out of Savannah/Hilton Head International!
